Detailed Instructions for Course Assignments

 A)    Create An Electronic Course Notebook (Blog Site) = 50 Possible Points
·         Go to www.blogger.com and sign up for a free blog account.
·         Give a title to your blog and select a design theme. Creativity is encouraged.
·         Provide me with the web address (URL) of your blog site prior to completing the first post.
·         Design a post for each of the 11 counseling theories/approaches we will be studying. The post can utilize a variety of mediums (video clips, articles, text, links, photos, etc).  At minimum it must include data that emphasizes the following: the theory’s key concepts, figures (people) associated with the theory, and the goal(s) of the theory.
·         Due class #2: Psychoanalytic & Adlerian (maximum 10 points)
·         Due class #3: Existential & Person-Centered (maximum 10 points)
·         Due class #4: Gestalt & Behavior (maximum 10 points)
·         Due class #5: Cognitive Behavior & Reality (maximum 10 points)
·         Due class #6: Feminist, Postmodern & Family Systems (maximum 10 points)

B)    Two Quizzes = 20 Possible Points (10 each)
·         There will be two multiple choice style quizzes.
·         QUIZ A will cover chapters two and three, and will be administered during class #3
·         QUIZ B will cover chapter 15, and will be administered during class #4

C)    Team Project = 10 Possible Points
·         You will be assigned to a team consisting of fellow classmates. Each team will be assigned a particular counseling theory. Together, the team will develop a 10 minute role play that illustrates how a counseling session utilizing the particular approach might look and sound. The role play can be delivered live or recorded in digital format. Presentations will be made during class #6.

D)     Comprehensive Final Exam = 20 Possible Points
·         The final exam will be comprehensive by design (covering the entire course content). You will be allowed one “open resource” tool to aid you in the task. Further details will be provided during class #5 regarding the open resource and test design.
